As hybrid working becomes the norm for organisations across the globe, IT managers will have to be decisive regarding the technology they intend to adopt over the long term. That technology will need to be adaptive and ensure optimum collaboration among theiir distributed workforce.

Analyst IDC recently forecast that organisations are expected to spend nearly $656bn globally on ‘Future of Work’ technologies in 2021, of which $228bn is expected to be invested in hardware, including technologies such as endpoint devices and enterprise hardware.

To enable this vision of the Future of Work, Chinese firm Kandao Technology has developed the Meeting Pro camera. The portable, standalone, 360-degree conferencing camera is the next-generation successor to ‘Kandao Meeting’, offering omni-directional microphones and Hi-Fi speakers and 8K imaging. It also allows users to record their meetings using an external SD card.

“Kandao Meeting Pro was released to bring unprecedented remote conferencing experience for users. It is the first 360-degree camera that doesn’t require an external computer to operate,” Kandao CEO Dan Chen told UC Today

“Facial expressions and body language are very important to express one’s feelings. In fact, a partner told us that after equipping Kandao Meeting Pro in his office, he could then catch every participant’s feedback in real-time during the meeting”

Using an in-built Android system, the Meeting Pro has two modes: USB for connecting to a laptop, and standalone, which negates the need for an external computer. It also has an upgraded AI Algorithm which tracks the active speaker in a meeting, while allowing precise focus and smart tracking of meeting participants.

This combination of features allows the Kandao Meeting Pro to improve meeting experiences between office-based participants and their remote colleagues, or between classroom teachers and their students learning remotely.

“By capturing the whole 360-degree view of the conference, it can automatically focus on the active speaker, letting remote attendees know precisely what is happening and making sure every attendee can be seen and heard clearly.

“Also, in meeting scenarios such as distance learning, document sharing is enabled. For example, teaching materials will be displayed simultaneously so that students who are learning remotely won’t be confused about which section they should be focused on.”

Partner Opportunity

The Meeting Pro camera can launch all mainstream meeting software solutions, and due to its Android OS, it can even deploy enterprise-specific, customised conference software.

This plug-and-play functionality is essential in a world where organisations are becoming increasingly globalised and employees are demanding flexible working, said Chen, adding that these needs open up many opportunities for channel partners.

“People either cannot return to the office or choose not to because of the threat of COVID-19; or companies may have expanded geographically and need to hold meetings with international participants,” he said.

“This makes investment in remote working technologies a priority for many organisations, thus increasing the demand for remote conferencing as well as remote working technologies and devices. We’ve seen a huge demand for the Kandao Meeting Pro from schools, corporations, and even hospitals who use it to exchange treatment information”
