Collaboration tools are more popular today than they’ve ever been before. As businesses continue to experiment with remote and mobile environments, it’s crucial to have a virtual space where team members can come together. Collaborative tools allow us to share ideas, knowledge, and conversations in a convenient space.

Unfortunately, a major issue of these tools is that there are many to choose from, and everyone seems to have their own preferences. This often leads to silos and “walled gardens” of communication in the workspace, when different parts of your team and external collaborators are separated into various groups based on the tools they prefer to use.

Fortunately, Mio’s Universal Channels product is here to eliminate that issue. I spoke to Tom Hadfield, the CEO of Mio, to find out more.

Exploring the Concept of Universal Channels

Mio’s Universal Channels product builds on a history of complexity in the messaging interoperability landscape. As a serial entrepreneur, Tom has created various venture-based software companies over the years. As he was working on one of these brands, he discovered that he was constantly jumping between different messaging apps to interact with various people.

Tom decided to create a solution for cross-channel messaging that would benefit not only him but the billions of people that rely on collaboration tools today. The Mio Universal Channels products helps to overcome the issues that team members have in trying to maintain consistent conversations with employees, contractors, and guests using alternative apps.

The Mio solution works a lot like Shared Channels in Slack, but it’s suitable for a wide selection of leading collaboration tools, including Microsoft Teams, Slack, and Cisco Webex Teams.

In this video meeting, I had the chance to discuss a range of crucial topics with Tom about how Mio’s Universal Channels solution is making a massive difference to the collaboration space. We discussed the technical architecture of Mio and how the tool works using crucial APIs. We also had a chance to talk about the kind of response that Mio has seen since launching the product.

In the video interview, Tom also gave me an exclusive insight into the long-term vision that Mio has for federation in the collaboration space, and whether support for additional platforms may be on the horizon. Tune in for an insight on everything you need to know about Mio’s strategy to transform the collaboration landscape.
