Today’s episode was recorded at UC Expo with special guest Johann Butting, who is Head of EMEA Sales for Slack.

Initially Patrick and Johann discuss the collaboration market and how it has rapidly expanded and also how it has changed over the past few years. Slack have announced some impressive user numbers and Johann has other statistics about the types of workers that are leveraging the tool.

“60% of Fortune 100 companies are paid customers of Slack.”

Johann and Patrick then consider some of potential future developments within collaboration platforms. As tempting as it might be to consider quickly immersing emerging technologies, Johann is keen to highlight that Slack are still focused on making sure that the application itself is as good as it possibly can be.

“In a few years from now, maybe 2025, everybody will be using something like Slack. We are working hard to make sure it’s Slack”

However AI will be utilised within Slack platforms to save users time by removing the need to complete mundane tasks. Johann also provides some active use cases where AI can really add value.
