According to Rob Arnold, Principal Analyst at Frost & Sullivan, meeting experiences are often broken due to the complexity of technology and user experience challenges. However, with adaptive composition, Pexip is taking an enhanced and human-centred approach to improving user experience through automation. This allows the technology to get out of the way, so participants can focus on collaboration.
While other companies attempt to solve the collaboration problem from a room level, with video zooming and so on, Pexip solves the issue at a platform level with a device-agnostic strategy that works with the tech you already own.
Introducing Pexip’s New Meeting Experience
Pexip’s updated meeting experience features a range of new solutions, including participant auto-framing. The auto-framing ensures that participants aren’t left off-centred in a meeting room, as the camera automatically achieves the optimal view, this allows for a more engaging and natural experience. The adaptive composition solution is device-agnostic, and it works with any camera system.
The service also comes with intelligent composition. While traditional meeting services rely exclusively on voice detection to determine who should be featured in a room, Pexip goes to the next level. Adaptive composition prioritises rooms with extra people. In addition to the active speakers, to ensure that the most active rooms will remain featured at all times, it also makes better use of real estate on the screen, while reducing unused white space around video feeds.
Pexip is also offering new meeting indicators. This means that hosts get extra information required to reduce the potential disruptions during a meeting. New embedded meeting indicators show attendee count, lock and recording status, and audio only users. This means that hots and attendees can spend more time focusing on the meeting itself. Display names also only appear when participants speak, allowing speakers to be easily identified.
Transforming the Modern Meeting Room
According to Pexip, the company wants to make virtual meetings as effective as in-person meetings. The AI-driven, video-first meeting approach means that Pexip can place every person in equal footing, to ensure that everyone in the environment is seen and heard. This removes complexity for end-users and provides a more immersive meeting experience.
While many dedicated camera and video systems can offer similar functionality from a device perspective, Pexip is the first company to bring the experience to any individual participant, regardless of whether they’re joining a meeting through an app, browser, or room system. Adaptive Composition will be available in version 23 of Pexip Infinity.
