So, how’s the Microsoft Teams migration going?

For many organisations, the world’s leading communication platform is now the go-to for conferencing, collaborating, and even voice calling.

Office meeting rooms, employee desktops, workforce mobile phones: it seems most means of communication are getting the Teams treatment.

It’s easy. Wherever you are, and no matter your device, simply open up the Teams client and there it all is at your fingertips – messaging, sharing, talking.

A veritable all-in-one-place omnichannel userfest.

However – just like in every other aspect of the world’s relentless bid to keep pace with the genius of technological advancement – gaps (and opportunities) remain.

One of the biggest? Voice paging.

Supermarkets, factories, schools, airports, hospitals: how do they enable their critical on-site overhead speaker systems to synch with their smart new Teams deployment?

One leading endpoints provider – Algo Communications Products – has become the first to plug that gap, thanks to a smart, in-preview MS Teams-certified launch that does exactly that.

“You used to need an SBC to connect output devices to Microsoft Teams and it was a complicated business, but with Algo endpoints it’s now a simple registration process – configure the Algo device with your Teams account settings and the device shows up in your Teams’ admin centre ready to go,” says Ryan Zoehner, Algo’s Head of Strategy and Commercial Operations.

“This enables organisations who are migrating to Microsoft Teams to have native voice paging, alerting and notification capability.

“They simply use their Teams client in the same way they would have previously used their on-premise system and can initiate a voice page over one or thousands of speakers.

“Organisations have been focused so much on MS Teams-powered video conferencing and voice calling but kind of forgot about the rest of the building. For our reseller partners, that’s where the next big opportunity lies.”

Indeed, in many more organisations than we realise, voice paging is not an optional component of their communication infrastructure.

It is often an integral part of daily operations; required for safety, regulatory compliance or just effective day-to-day activity.

In those organisations, such as education, healthcare, retail and warehousing for example, employees are not in front of a Teams client but often need to be communicated with or alerted to a particular situation.

“Those organisations have been doing that by using infrastructure that is now out-dated, or no longer compatible with modern systems like Teams,” says Zoehner.

“They have migrated to MS Teams and it’s like somebody took away their light switches. We’re bringing that functionality back. It’s simple; it’s native. It is a best-of-breed Microsoft-authorised solution that requires no workarounds or third parties.”

All new Algo endpoints are now shipped with the Teams compatible firmware already installed. Organisations equipped with legacy Algo endpoints are able to upgrade via a simple firmware download.

Algo endpoints feature visual as well as audible alerting functionality; delivering highly attention-grabbing notifications with ultrabright multi-color LED visual alerts and high-intensity audible notifications in environments where ambient noise levels are high.

In addition, they support ‘multicast’ capability; allowing data or information to be sent simultaneously to numerous IP endpoints with an activation to play a tone, flash an alert, or initiate a pre-recorded audio file.

“Microsoft Teams is transforming the way organisations around the world communicate,” says Zoehner.

“We are delighted that our partnership is now helping those organisations do so more effectively.”
