Mitel has unveiled a new range of business class desktop telephones that provide direct synchronization with mobile smartphones.

The 6900 series uses Bluetooth to deliver what the telecoms giant is calling “seamless” integration with a user’s smartphone.

The key features include an automatic switching between the desktop model and a mobile handset when both are connected, triggered by use. So someone on a call on their mobile as they got to their desk could automatically pick the call up on their desk phone simply by picking it up.

Contact lists are also shared between connected devices, while the 6900 allows mobiles to be charged directly from it.

In a further sign of the blurring of lines between desktop and mobile telephones, the 6900 features a high resolution colour 7” touchscreen and is WiFi compatible, so it too can be used on the move within range of a WiFi hub.

Bob Agnes, EVP & President of Mitel Enterprise Division, said:

“Our 6900 series business phones were designed on the inside to drive increased business productivity and collaboration.

“On the outside, it provides the elegant aesthetic and intuitive user experience we now expect at our fingertips. Simplified connectivity, avatar-based caller identification and easier directory integration all go towards making these phones essential for the modern worker.”

Showcased at the Mitel Next event in Paris in 2016, the 6900 series is available in three designs and comes with a wide range of exclusive accessories.
