Webex by Cisco has unveiled three new devices designed for hybrid working.

The new releases include the Webex Room Bar, the Cisco Desk Camera 1080p, and the Bang & Olufsen Cisco 980 headset.

Webex lists three key elements which have been incorporated into these hybrid designs: a more sustainable workplace, a focus on inclusive experiences to connect people globally, and adding flexibility to cater for hybrid working.

Snorre Kjesbu, Senior Vice President & General Manager of Webex Devices at Cisco, said: “In hybrid work, technology plays a centralized role in many of our modes of communication: Conversations, meetings, innovation, and creativity, for example.

“When team members are working across spaces, technology is the connective tissue that allows connection to thrive.

“If technology feels clunky, or if it simply doesn’t work with your existing tools; connection is broken, innovation is lost, and creativity gets stifled.

“Collaboration technology should work in the exact ways you do – wherever and however you work- including the ability to share content from the tools you already use.”

Webex Room Bar

The Webex Room Bar is “a discrete yet powerful video bar that provides enhanced flexibility, intelligence, and exceptional meeting experiences in your workspaces”, according to Webex.

The video conferencing device has a 12 MP camera with five times digital zoom. The camera can detect participants to provide optimal framing, and its smart speaker tracker keeps the speaker in view. The camera also has a 120° field of view to capture all participants.

The Webex Room Bar has a built-in microphone that uses AI-based noise removal and an external microphone extension for large collaboration spaces. It also includes high-performing stereo speakers.

Kjesbu said: “Raising the “bar” for sustainable room conferencing, the new Webex Room Bar is lighter, thinner, and is manufactured for easy disassembly and recycling.

“The device and its packaging use significantly fewer materials: no box-in-the-box packaging, single-use foam containers, or redundant parts.

“This compact, flexible and powerful room device can enable any huddle space and small meeting room with immersive, multi-platform video conferencing.”

Cisco Desk Camera 1080p

The Cisco Desk Camera 1080p includes a four times digital zoom, an 8MP image sensor, 83° field-of-view, and 1080p maximum resolution.

It has two omni-directional microphones to enhance speech pickup, advanced noise reduction to block out background sounds, and its audio settings can be adjusted in the Desk Camera App or the Webex App.

Webex describes the camera as portable, elegant, compact with robust capabilities, and an affordable option for every workspace.

Kjesbu said: “Our new Cisco Desk Camera 1080p features omni-directional microphones and face-detection to deliver best in class auto-exposure, auto-focus, and white balance.

“That way, whatever is going on behind you at the office, your team can hear and see you clearly.”

Bang & Olufsen 980

The Bang & Olufsen 980 headset features include a lightweight structure with premium materials, crystal clear communications, adaptive Active Noise Cancellation, Bluetooth 5.1, and 24-hour talk time.

It also has in-ear voice prompts, call control integrations, enterprise-grade hardware and software security, a carrying case for ease of travel, and centralized management and analytics.

Webex says it will release software updates and new product features, integrations, and management and analytics capabilities.

Marisa Rutti, Product Marketing Manager at Webex, said: “With the goal of empowering users, we decided to work together with Bang and Olufsen to produce the Bang & Olufsen Cisco 980 headset.

“This partnership builds on the passions of both companies by bringing together Cisco’s advanced business communications, integrations, and management built within the seamless design and beautiful sound of Bang & Olufsen.

“Together, we’ve created a headset experience that is flexible, inclusive, and secure while easily transitioning from work to life in style.”

Miracast Support Now Available

Previously, Webex announced that the Room, Desk, and Board series would support Airplay.

Webex has revealed that its devices will support Miracast wireless content sharing from Windows devices.

Webex has also partnered with AT&T to implement its Webex Go solution.
