Softbank, a holding company in Japan and multi-national conglomerate responsible for the world’s largest technology, the “vision fund,” recently announced their decision to use Ribbon Communications for network visibility. Softbank is responsible for the world’s largest technology fund ($100 billion), which means that it’s also the organisation behind some of the biggest innovations in the UC world. The fund has invested in everything from next-generation healthcare, to artificial intelligence and IoT.

Ribbon, on the other hand, is a company with decades of market leadership when it comes to offering secure and advanced real-time communications services. Thanks to their advanced position in cloud communications, Ribbon managed to capture the attention of one of Japan’s largest tier one groups, as Softbank began to search for solutions to support network traffic analytics and monitoring.

Softbank and Ribbon Protect

With so much innovation and development to watch over, it makes sense that SoftBank would need a traffic analytics solution they could trust. The company chose the Ribbon Protect platform because the system offers advanced real-time communications analytics and visibility. Ribbon Protect is a security solution and analytics service that allows service providers, enterprises, and multi-national conglomerates like Softbank to respond to attacks of fraud and mitigate disaster easily. The system uses network-wide analytics and policy enforcement to provide a secure end-to-end network.

According to the Director for the Voice Core Network Department for SoftBank, Yasuyuki Haga, Ribbon Protect currently represents the only platform on the modern market that can offer the company a full view of their network, alongside state-of-the-art intelligence and monitoring too. Haga noted in a press release that the information the business will gather with Ribbon’s health will allow them to offer more innovative services to their customers, like voice security alerts.

The Rise of Real-Time Communications

In a world where customers are more demanding and impatient than ever, real-time communications are growing increasingly popular. Many companies are dealing with huge amounts of data at any given time, but most of the network planning tools on the market are unable to offer the end-to-end visibility that businesses need. Without this immersive overview, companies struggle to maintain quality of service for end-users.

According to the Country Manager for Japan in Ribbon Communications, Tatsuki Hino, the ability to properly analyse big data makes a difference to any organisation. Ribbon are thrilled that they have a chance to expand the relationship they already had with SoftBank and deliver the comprehensive monitoring and analytics services they need.

Ribbon hopes that their Protect system will assist Softbank in accessing a more advanced incident management service and accelerating their evolution towards automated and intelligent troubleshooting services.
