The Cloud Team were in the Mitel London City office today, briefing UK channel partners on their latest World Cloud solution for global enterprises.

It sure has been a busy time for Mitel recently. Their World Cloud proposition further strengthens the brand’s leading position in the ever-growing global cloud communications market.

Mitel kicked off the session by noting that more people now work in highly distributed organisations, and that IT teams are struggling to support disparate systems due to the high costs of maintenance. Mitel World Cloud was created to enable complete business agility for multi-national organisations, and it’s ready and live.

What is Mitel World Cloud?

Mitel World Cloud (for MiCloud Office & MiCloud Enterprise), unifies employees worldwide using a single global cloud communications platform, engaging users with a shared application experience and connecting offices, anywhere, anytime, on any device. With real-time presence and international one-touch dialling, employees have universal access to common voice, video, messaging and conferencing tools.

The Global Communications Market is Soaring

The channel briefing was presented by Mitel’s Cloud Business Development Manager Terry Hughes. He began the event by introducing a few key facts about the company, alongside marketplace insights. Particularly interesting is the revelation that Mitel’s cloud user base is growing by 10% quarter on quarter globally. In the UK, cloud user revenue is up an enormous 117% year on year. Cloud Communications is a huge market opportunity for unified communications vendors and channel partners and their growth figures are testament to Mitel’s commitment to R&D and market dominance on the global stage.

It’s also a period of change for unified communications vendors, Mitel stated that many channel partners are now selling both their on-premises and cloud platforms, with some partners choosing to concentrate on cloud only.

From a cloud vendor’s perspective; Gartner predicts that by 2019, more than 30 percent of the 100 largest vendors’ new software investments will have shifted from cloud-first to cloud-only.

MiCloud hits the World Stage

If you’re familiar with Mitel’s multi-tenanted UCaaS solution MiCloud Office then you’ll know that it’s typically positioned as the little brother to MiCloud Enterprise. MiCloud Office however, has also been made available for global organisations, and has begun to see significant investment as part of the World Cloud platform development. Not only does World Cloud offer customers complete flexibility in terms of how its deployed (choice of two platforms), it’s another string to the bow for channel partners looking to increase their value propositions. In other words, it’s a win-win for everyone.

Rob Hutton, UK Sales Director for Cloud Services said;

World Cloud enables Mitel Channel Partners to offer global cloud solutions to their customers, an opportunity which brings with it substantial opportunity for revenue growth

Here’s what World Cloud offers:

  • Global Data Centres – Mitel now has data centres worldwide in 14 data centres, delivering true geo-redundancy for global survivability
  • Global Footprint – Local breakout and numbers in 40 host Countries and international number porting
  • Greater Security – Role based access control, two factor authentication, enhanced encryption
  • Improved Service Quality Management – QoS & bandwidth management tools for IT admins and channel partner support teams
  • Global Pro Services – Mitel can assist UK channel partners with global project management, aftercare and billing in local languages where required

Terry Hughes, Cloud Business Development Manager commented;

MiCloud Enterprise coupled with World Cloud allows customers to scale in any way they choose, on-premises, private, hybrid or public cloud. Quite a unique proposition versus other UC vendors in today’s marketplace

MiCloud Edge is the Key Ingredient

Mitel introduced MiCloud Edge which is their latest SD-WAN solution. MiCloud Edge delivers a whole host of benefits for dispersed organisations whether they be in the UK, or around the globe, using software-defined networking technology. Channel partners and customers can now deploy IP phones and software applications virtually anywhere in the world and have them securely connected back into the Mitel communications cloud, regardless of the internet connectivity type (most common high speed internet services supported).

For example, MiCloud Edge supports fibre broadband, leased line ethernet and 4G, and can seamlessly failover between connections when connectivity is poor or out of service.

Andrew Jane, Director of Cloud Solution Architecture at Mitel commented;

Edge provides Enterprises with complete business agility and speed of deployment

In a nutshell, Mitel World Cloud delivers flexibility like no other cloud communications vendor in the market: it supports hybrid deployments, available in 40 countries, it’s scalable for virtually any business size, and because it’s underpinned by the latest SD-WAN technology, it can be deployed reliably and securely across the globe. Music to a multi-national’s ears.

More Coming up in the Future

Finally, in an exclusive interview with UC Today, Mitel added a few hints on what to expect in the near future. A few major developments to watch out for:

  • Simpler licensing for MiCloud bundled user plans
  • The upcoming launch of “Move-to-Cloud” incentives
  • MiCloud Office to be made available via Trust Distribution
  • IP Phone set rentals to be launched imminently
  • Mitel CloudLink – their all new CPaaS (communications platform as a service) API platform
  • Contact Center Engage – a whole new CCaaS (contact centre as a service) customer engagement solution for contact centres

This week Mitel is participating in UCExpo 2017 at ExCel on the 17th and 18th May, the UK’s leading Unified Communications event.
