On the 21st of October, in 2016, VTech Holdings Limited – the leading manufacturer across the globe for cordless telephones, announced its decision to acquire Snom, a pioneer and leading brand for professional and enterprise level Voice over Internet Protocol phones. VTech assumed a 100% share of Snom, and the transaction was completed on the 21st of November, 2016 after all regulatory requirements and closing conditions for the purchase were met.

Now that the whirlwind of the acquisition is finally dying down, Snom has emerged as an indirect, but fully-owned subsidiary of VTech. As a result, it makes sense that the partners and customers of Snom up until this point will be wondering exactly what they should expect from the change in ownership.

Promising the Same High Quality

In an attempt to reassure their customers, the new owners of Snom have announced that their existing business practices will not be disrupted as a result of the takeover, and the familiar faces that have always been present within marketing, development, and sales teams will not be going anywhere. In other words, consumers have been told that business will continue as normal.

When VTech purchased Snom, they did so without any intention to change the ergonomic and familiar design that has come to be associated with the user-friendly software of Snom’s IP phones and DECT solutions. Workplace mobility options will continue to offer HD sound quality and exceptional productivity features, and the service will still be hosted in Germany, to ensure unparalleled levels of communication security for the network.

According to Gernot Sagl, the CEO for Snom technology, the company will now be able to strengthen its position within the market as an official part of the VTech portfolio. While customers will continue to receive the same level of high-quality products and craftsmanship, along with interoperability and security expertise, VTech support will also lead to enhanced service levels and exciting product portfolio expansion.
