As part of their overarching aim to support the adoption of cloud-based communication and technology services around the world, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise recently acquired a majority stake in a privately-held company in Austria, called “Sipwise GmbH”. Sipwise delivers enhanced cloud communications services and cloud infrastructure for telecom operators, supporting the development of modern UC services based on an extensive API library, and open-standards.

Currently, Sipwise has more than 60 customers across 20 countries, which means that they’re responsible for serving over four million users across the globe. In other words, the Sipwise majority share acquisition gives Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise saw fantastic opportunity to strengthen their position in the cloud market.

Adding to the Extensive ALE Offering

According to the EVP for the Business and Communication division for Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, Nicolas Brunel, customers in the enterprise space are always looking for better ways to improve and connect their collaboration and communication services across multiple networks and devices. ALE’s cloud-focused approach to technology allows them to address this need for versatility and flexibility.

Now, with a majority share in Sipwise, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise will be able to support increasingly complex market demands. What’s more, the acquisition support’s ALE’s fundamental mission to help the world become more connected. The high-quality go-to-market strategy of Sipwise and its exceptional technology portfolio is sure to supplement Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise’s existing offering. Not only does it reinforce the ALE UCaaS solution, but it will also add to the popular Rainbow service too, making for native connections to IP, PSTN, TDM, SIP and WebRTC through the cloud.

A Compelling Route to Cloud with ALE and Sipwise

The combined offering from ALE and Sipwise will deliver state-of-the-art cloud communication and collaboration services to end-customers and channel partners across a host of different market segments. Indeed, this acquisition will help to accelerate Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise’s position as a key player in WebRTC and cloud communication services. Sipwise will hold onto its brand name, but it will also benefit from the significant support and Worldwide presence that ALE has to offer.

In a press release, the CEO of Sipwise, Daniel Tiefnig noted that by merging the enterprise and carrier worlds in a best-of-breed approach, with a joint portfolio for customers, Sipwise and ALE will be able to deliver the cloud communication solutions of a future, on an astronomical scale.
