This week Microsoft host one of their biggest annual events in Orlando, Florida. Microsoft Ignite acts as the platform for Microsoft to inform their tech community about all of their latest news and releases. One of the biggest announcements of the week is that LinkedIn, Microsoft’s professional networking platform, will now offer further integration with Outlook and the other office applications.

Many within the industry have postulated that Microsoft would increase the amount of integration that would occur between LinkedIn and the other Microsoft Office applications and now the confirmation is here.

The global tech giant have made it known this week that the integration between LinkedIn and Office 365 will continue to deepen. Although the official feature release dates are yet to be announced they have released some details of how this integration will occur. When you connect your LinkedIn account to Office 365, you’ll be able to co-author documents with people in your LinkedIn network in Word, Excel and PowerPoint and send emails to them directly from Outlook.

This brings will bring users from your corporate directories and those from your social LinkedIn networks together. The idea behind this is that you won’t lose touch with the contacts who can help you succeed, inside or outside your organisation. Microsoft so will also create visibility of contact’s LinkedIn highlights within meeting invites. This feature will provide Outlook users with more readily available information about other attendees so you can prepare for important meetings more quickly and easily.

All of the new features announced will be implemented as part of staged rollout. The integration features are designed to minimise administration tasks and help users focus on what’s important by providing information and connections, directly into pre-existing workflows.

UC Today are in attendance at Microsoft Ignite for the whole week to make sure you stay up to date with latest from the Microsoft world of communication and collaboration.
