At the UK Partner event in London 7th February 2017, Mitel unveiled their latest application suite, namely MiVoice Office Application Suite 5.0.

The new suite of apps from Mitel includes a new version of their unified comms software Phone Manager client, their progressive dialler MiContact Center Campaign Manager and not just one, but two brand new additions called MiVoice Office Call Reporter and MiVoice Call Recorder.

The MiVoice Office app suite is cleverly designed to run on a single server as a single software instance. Which means less hardware and more efficiency for MiVoice Office 250 phone system owners. We imagine you can virtualise the whole solution also, but this remains to be confirmed (comment below if you know the answer).

Who is MiVoice Office Application Suite 5.0 for?

The MiVoice Office Application Suite is an upgrade to what was Mitel Communication Service, which is the server application that runs Mitel Phone Manager software.

Therefore, this application suite is only compatible with MiVoice Office 250 phone systems (formally Mitel 5000).

Phone Manager has been a huge success for Mitel, and is now bundled with all new systems to encourage companies to embrace unified communications and CRM integration. The most recent edition of Phone Manager 4.3 included a mobile client for iOS and Android smartphone users allowing staff to stay connected to their office phone system whilst on the move. Very cool indeed.

The end of Mitel Customer Service Manager?

Mitel Customer Service manager (CSM) or more recently referred to as MiContact Center Office has been the defacto contact centre reporting suite for MiVoice Office 250 telephone systems for several years now. Now that the new MiVoice Office Application Suite includes call reporting and call recording we imagine Mitel will eventually phase CSM out (not confirmed however).

CSM lacks a modern browser interface, which is exactly what you get with the new application suite 5.0. Thumbs up to Mitel and the developers for putting this on their dev plan.

Ideally what customers would like to see if a smooth and painless migration path from one to the next. Let’s wait and see what happens.

What’s new in MiVoice Office Application Suite 5.0?

The new application suite 5.0 in summary offers the following productivity enhancing apps:

  • Mitel Phone Manager – Unified Comms solution, desktop client with CRM integration, mobile application & softphone applications
  • MiContact Center Campaign Manager – Outbound progressive dialler
  • MiVoice Office Call Reporter – Call logging and reports
  • MiVoice Office Call Recorder – Call recording

MiVoice Office Application Suite 5.0 will be officially released on the 3rd of March 2017. If you’re interested in buying it then you’ll need to contact your Mitel Partner for more detailed information and pricing.

MiVoice Office 6.3

Coming up later in 2017 for MiVoice Office 250 owners is release 6.3. We’ll report more on this as we find out what’s going to be added in this new software version.

UC Today Opinion

This was a massively anticipated update from Mitel and it’s finally here. Mitel customers and partners will be singing from the rooftops in joy.

In terms of on-premise phone system solutions, Mitel continue to produce a market leading product for small to medium sized business. With so many options in the Mitel portfolio nowadays, it’s good to see R&D in all areas of their catalogue.
