Patrick is joined by expert Cisco guest Jonathan George, who is a Pre-sales Consultant at MeetingZone, to take us through all of the latest news on the Webex Teams outages and other Cisco collaboration news.

The elephant in the room is the outage that took place on the Webex Teams platform. This affected all users and the globe and was very serious for customers and partners alike. Jonathan takes Patrick through all of the details and examines the potential causes and solutions that ,Cisco hope, will ensure that this sort of issue does not occur again.

“We are yet to see the formal RCA, root cause analysis, information from Cisco. They have been rightly focused on actually get things back up, working and stable.”

Although the full details haven’t been confirmed Jonathan does have some information on what the causes might have been.

Patrick also asks Jonathan about some more personnel changes that have taken place within the senior management of Cisco’s collaboration division. Cisco stalwart Jonathan Rosenberg departed the organisation and has been replaced by Cullen Jennings as CTO. Patrick also asks Jonathan if we expect any further changes and whether the existing management team including Amy Chang, are taking the division in the right direction.

Despite some of the issues Cisco have been incredibly busy developing new products and features within their collaboration portfolio. Jonathan takes Patrick through the latest endpoint solutions that are now available. Cisco have released various new room systems but the guys also discuss their foray into the exciting world of headsets.

Jonathan also explains the benefits of the new Webex edge services to Patrick. The most exciting piece of news is Cisco’s release of new hybrid calendar features. The new meeting scheduling functionality is designed to make the process or arranging and then joining meetings as simple as possible for Cisco users with the principle of the ‘big green button’. This has already made a huge difference to Jonathan and the advantages could be huge for Cisco customers if they explore and integrate the new features.
