Tom Arbuthnot, our expert guest, from Modality Systems, joins Patrick in one of the Microsoft Ignite podcast booths to round up all the Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business news from the event.

Firstly Patrick and Tom discuss Microsoft Ignite, the event is huge with a selection of keynotes and thousands of sessions and workshops for all of the attendees who made the trip to Florida. If you couldn’t make it don’t worry as many of the sessions are live streamed by Microsoft, and failing that you won’t miss any of the news as at UC Today we have you covered.

Microsoft Teams has absolutely dominated the communication and collaboration side of the event with little mention of Skype for Business.

Patrick and Tom run through all the main news for Teams, including the announcement that Teams is the fastest growing business app in Microsoft history! There was also lots of other Teams news at the event so Patrick and Tom review all of the new features, many of which they have discussed before, but there was also some new information released about feature previews.

Tom also tells Patrick about the expansion of Teams into new areas within industry. Microsoft have announced various new details which will make Teams more suitable for front line workers but also allow it to be utilised more within specific verticals such as healthcare.

Skype for Business has definitely taken a back seat during Ignite so they guys discuss its absence. Microsoft are really keen to transfer organisations to Teams, where it is feasible, but Tom explains that for a huge number of customers, with certain requirements, Skype for Business will still be critical.
