Patrick was joined by special guest, and UC Today colleague, Rob Scott.

First up, Rob and Patrick, review all of the biggest news stories from the past few weeks. The team review the latest Gartner Magic Quadrant for UCaaS, where there hasn’t been a huge amount of change from last year’s version. They also examine all of the major acquisitions that have taken place. It appears that more and more organisations are trying to add businesses to complement and extend their existing portfolios, so that they can cater for even more aspects of the unified communications landscape.

There were also some huge news stories on top of the business acquisitions and consolidations. Avaya have launched their public cloud in Europe, Zoom announced Zoom Voice, their cloud phone solution, so Patrick and Rob discuss all of the stories and also expand on some of the big collaboration outages that caused pandemonium for Webex Teams and Slack customers.

It is one of the busiest seasons for events currently. The UC Awards have come to an end and Rob takes Patrick through the winners in each of the categories. The guys also look ahead to upcoming events like BroadSoft Connections that takes place in the second week of November.

Finally Rob tells Patrick about some big news for UC Today, the imminent release of the new website. The new site will improve functionality and accessibility for UC Today users. The team has also been expanded with more journalists, and Patrick looks forward to launching UC Today webinars, which will be a new feature for the publication.
