The T27P is a product right at the core of Yealink’s business – enterprise class desktop IP telephones. With full support for SIP trunking, the T27P is very much a modern VOIP terminal, featuring a wide range of data functions to complement the standard voice requirements.
In this review, we will dig into exactly what this SIP phone offers to the end user. We will also test out Yealink’s claim that the T27P was developed with a focus on making operations as simple and straightforward as possible.

How Does It Look?
The T27P does not deviate far from the tried and tested desktop telephone design. The handset is mounted on a standard angled keypad module, coloured in Yealink’s preferred graphite grey. Alongside the dial pad, buttons include six navigation keys, volume up and down keys and, either side of the display, eight programmable line keys with LED lights and up to 21 different functions. The display itself is 3.66″ 240×120-pixel graphical LCD with backlight. Underneath are four context dependent ‘soft’ keys linked to options shown on the display. There is some unassuming Yealink branding just above the screen, in keeping with the sparse, professional look of the whole unit.
What Can It Do?
As you would expect from a SIP phone, the T27P offers all the basic call handling features that are more or less mandatory on a business phone, plus a more advanced range of PBX management functions.
The latter includes support for Bridged Line Appearance (BLA), so incoming calls can be routed to all available terminals and picked up manually, as well as call recording, voicemail and anonymous call rejection. Caller ID appears alongside the number in the LED display.
Each phone can also handle three way conference calls and operates as a full duplex hands free speakerphone with AEC. Audio quality is very good, with Optima HD voice and HD speakers in the handset and on the unit itself.
The terminal comes with a local phonebook with room for up to 1000 entries, plus support for a XML/LDAP remote phonebook connection, both with intelligent search. Call history is logged and also searchable.
Up to six SIP accounts can be created on each unit, meaning the T27P is suitable for hot desking. Configuration and upgrades can be managed in a number of ways, either on the phone itself using the in-built XML browser, or via remote auto-provision using FTP/TFTP/HTTP/HTTPS or PnP. It is therefore well suited to mass deployment. All communications offer enhanced network security via SIP over Transport Layer Security (TLS/SSL).
What do we like?
For such a function rich desktop telephone with a wide range of capabilities, the interface is very straightforward and intuitive. The programmable line keys and display soft buttons pack a lot of options in without ever becoming clumsy to navigate.
Who is it for?
With ready support for auto provisioning and a comprehensive range of features, the T27P can readily be deployed as a frontline desktop telephone for organisations up to enterprise level which want to maintain VOIP telephony as their main communications focus.
What is it compatible with?
The T27P is compatible with soft switch products from most leading suppliers, including 3CX, Asterisk and Broadsoft Broadworks.
Summary
As a modern SIP enabled VOIP telephone terminal, the T27P does everything you would expect. On top of its wide range of call management and PBX features, its scalability and ready support for mass deployment make it a solid option for enterprise level companies wanting to keep voice at the core of their communications options.
In terms of operability, it is extremely straightforward and easy to use without detracting from the range of features available. It is flexible enough to used everywhere from the front desk to the boardroom, in offices favouring a shared line system or with direct extensions.
