Leading provider of CPaaS enablement solutions, Telestax, recently announced a new agreement with the NEC corporation in America. NEC is a pioneering provider of advanced IT, networking, and communication solutions. The strategic agreement brings the two companies together to deliver CPaaS functionality to a wide channel partner network and customer base.

Already, NEC has incorporated programmable SMS functionality from Telestax into its UC suite. The new agreement allows NEC to continue adding programmable voice and SMS while also releasing new CPaaS applications in a turnkey format to customers.

Improving Team Communications

NEC recently earned recognition as the number one provider of products for call control in SMB markets, according to MZA. With tens of millions of users across the globe, NEC is in the top three for installed UC seats, and the company also ranks number 1 for global line shipments in the last 3 quarters. The new agreement with Telestax represents NEC’s continued rapid expansion into CPaaS and programmable solutions.

According to President of the NEC Communication division, Ram Menghani, NEC sees the world’s SMB market as a top priority for their leadership position. Working with Telestax allows NEC to deliver CPaaS to a crucial market. The Telestax business model has made it easy for NEC to integrate with and white label the platform completely. With the agreement, NEC has added SMS functionality to a variety of products to create new channels and improve communications, such as:

  • SMS enablement on any fixed line: With the NEC UC-Suite contact centre application (Univerge SV9100), companies can now send text messages to vendors, customers, and colleagues just like a chat message. Any fixed line supports SMS communication, allowing communication to remain within the same aligned environment
  • Text alerts for colleagues: Through the NEC Front Desk Assistant, users can offer a contactless check-in experience with the power of biometrics. Integrating with the Telestax CPaaS platform ensures the Front Desk Assistant can alert employees by text message when a guest arrives

According to Menghani, partnering with Telestax was an exciting move for NEC, and they immediately started working on API functionality to bring to channel partners, and customers. NEC isn’t stopping here either. The company is now working on a host of new cloud features and products through access to the innovative messaging and voice capabilities of Telestax. NEC is also examining the Telestax turnkey applications as new solutions for customers.

These Turnkey applications include smart two-factor authentication, which offers the ability to send one-time passwords through the preferred channel of the customer. This helps to protect against phishing attacks and improves customer security. Another option is number masking, which cloaks an agent or customer’s number to keep information private during an exchange.

Chief Commercial Officer at Telestax, Kevin Nethercott, said that the company is thrilled a company as large as NEC is applying its rich APIs to new features to assist with their global SMB footprint.
