Recently, leading cloud communication provider, Vonage, announced that they would be expanding their footprint across the world with brand-new investments in the APAC (Asia Pacific) region. This effort has been implemented to address the growing demand for new cloud communication solutions.

In the wake of the announcement, Vonage announced Sunny Rao as their new general manager and vice president for APAC, and he will be leading the Vonage expansion into the new region. With over 20 years of experience in the area of global information technology, Rao should be a fantastic option for the APAC efforts of Vonage.

Pursuing the Path for Global Growth

Through the Vonage API platform, Nexmo, Vonage has already begun to develop significant leadership in the APAC and EMEA regions, with offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Seoul. According to Alan Masarek, Vonage’s CEO, the company are thrilled to bring Sunny into their growing team as they continue to see new adoption in communication solutions throughout these regions.

Prior to joining Vonage, Mr. Rao also served as the Vice President for the Middle East and India for Vidyo Inc. He additionally held senior executive positions at software companies Genesys Telecommunications, and Nuance Communications, as well as Avaya, the global business tech provider. Rao said that he was thrilled to join the Vonage team during such a significant time in their global growth. Vonage is now in an exceptional position to start delivering even more of its presence to the Asian marketplace.

Moving into Mainland China

The development of the first of three planned offices in China will be found in the Nanshan district, SSC tower in Shenzhen, followed by offices in Beijing and Shanghai. Chong Deng, Business Development Director, will be leading the Shenzhen office. Before he joined Vonage, Mr. Deng was responsible for the West and South China sales teams for Akamai Technologies. He has a great deal of experience in the Chinese market, as well knowledge in gaming, e-Commerce, and more.

In the past, Mr. Deng has also held numerous sales leadership positions at IBM, including a position that allowed him to oversee IBM’s solutions for data and cloud analytics in the public and government sectors.

With over 25% of revenue for Nexmo coming from the APAC region, the addition of the new locations in China will help to highlight the potential of the Vonage API platform, and improve upon Vonage’s plans for growth across the region, where it already has a number of large enterprise companies, including Huawei, Meitu, and Alibaba. In fact, Huawei recently gave Vonage it’s annual “Huawei Best Serviced Award”.

A Strong Move Forward for Vonage

Vonage’s fantastic range of end-to-end business communication solutions includes both /unified-communications/ucaas options (Unified Communications as a Service), and CPaaS (Communications Platform as a Service) for a range of full cloud capabilities. The connection of both /unified-communications/cpaas and UCaaS in the future will be a significant element in business communication, allowing for greater productivity and mobility across enterprise employees, while allowing companies to remain more closely connected than ever before.
