Patrick is joined by RingCentral’s VP for Collaboration Mike Pugh.

Firstly Mike shares some of the main findings from the research that RingCentral have conducted. Various communication methods, and using different platforms, leads to an inefficient and disruptive experience for workers.

“We have to realise that a lot of people don’t want their work disrupted multiple times a day and so we have to find that balance between disruptive technologies but not having them disrupt people’s abilities to get their jobs done.”

Utilising the results of their research and leveraging the huge wealth of information they have from their existing customers, RingCentral aim to rectify the ‘collaboration problem’ with their solution Glip.

RingCentral have made Glip available for free with no limitations on functionality. Mike provides Patrick with some particular examples of the use of Glip within RingCentral’s customer base. Uptake of collaboration tools within industries is still in its infancy so RingCentral want to ensure as many people as possible are able to use their product to appreciate that collaboration is the most effective way of working.

“We believe that collaboration is a gateway to better communication and better productivity”

Mike also discusses the definition of collaboration and how it encompasses much more than just a chat function. Sharing content, meetings and tasks are crucial aspects of collaboration and all are enabled by Glip.
