AUVS UV Box Receives Approval for Infection Control

Spectralink approves AUVS UV Box for Enterprise Versity smartphones, helping healthcare buyers cut MRSA and cross-contamination risk.

AUVS UV Box infection control approval

Leading provider of enterprise-grade mobile solutions, Spectralink, recently announced their decision to approve the AUVS UV Box. Designed by Advanced Ultra-Violet Systems (AUVS), the UV Box provides a unique form of infection control designed to protect staff and patients from the issue of spreading pathogens. With the UV Box, users can reduce the spread of hospital-acquired infections, and support organisations in complying with infection prevention protocols. The UV Box is now approved for use with the Enterprise Versity smartphone from Spectralink.

According to the Director of Healthcare development at Spectralink, Bill Foster, smartphones are increasingly being used for data exchange and communication in hospitals, but they can also be a method of cross-contamination with pathogens and bacteria. Healthcare providers are seeking out effective solutions for protecting clinicians and patients alike. Together, AUVS and Spectralink are addressing these growing needs directly, by giving healthcare provides patented UV technology to protect Spectralink devices. The UV Box delivers a pathogen kill rate of 99.999% for even the worst contaminants, including MRSA.

Protecting Mobile Devices with UV Cleaning

In medical environments, UV enclosures are frequently used as a safeguard against hospital acquired infections. Becoming referred to as the UV Box, the AUVS solution otherwise known as KR615 helps to eliminate issues with existing infection prevention policies, working between cleanings to provide a better alternative to wipes.

The Ultraviolet light destroys bacteria, but it is also known for harming various materials too. Because of this, Spectralink Labs engaged in high-level testing before approving the use of the UV Box for its Versity Smartphones. The Versity tools were tested with the AUVS KR615 to see how well they held up to a medical-grade UV enclosure for disinfection. The tests simulated typical medical conditions, and found that thanks to Spectralink’s superior plastic enclosure, the tools were able to exceed performance expectations and maintain full functionality.

Spectralink has been able to approve UV box enclosures for the disinfection and cleaning of Versity smartphones when used according to manufacturer guidelines.

Designed specifically to suit the significant demands of today’s healthcare working environments, the Versity smartphones from Spectralink deliver high-level performance and incredible voice quality in a slim, durable, and lightweight design.

The UV Box by AUVS, the KR615,on the other hand, augments this technology with a solution that has been clinically proven to reduce the risk of infections spreading. The President and Founder of AUVS, Jim Psihas, said that the company is very excited about this new level of partnership. The Versity platform is testing the boundaries of what’s possible with enterprise devices. Now that the UV Box from AUVS is certified to work with these devices, healthcare environments will have a reliable way to protect their patients and clinicians from spreading infections.
