The Plantronics Voyager 5200 UC is the California-based audio communications developer’s latest range of noise cancelling Bluetooth earpiece headsets designed to deliver impeccable audio quality and support mobile workers in any environment.

Offering a stylish, compact design and next level features, the Voyager 5200 UC claims to help drastically improve a user’s communications and mobility experience to help businesses get the most from their UC solutions – but how much truth is there in these claims?

In order to find out, we’ve decided to do a review on the product and test how well it lives up to Plantronics’ sterling reputation as one of the world’s leading producers of high quality audio equipment.

How does it look?

The Voyager 5200 UC comes with its own carry case to protect it from damage and to charge it on-the-go

Ergonomically crafted to sit comfortably behind the ear, the 5200 UC is built with mobility in mind and is small enough for users to carry around with them in their pocket wherever they go. Stylishly coloured in elegant black, the earpiece oozes class and even comes with its own carry case to protect it from damage as it travels with the user on their business journey.

What can it do?

With four adaptive microphones and innovative WindSmart technology, the Voyager 5200 UC works tirelessly to cast out disruptive background noise and ensure that exceptional audio quality is delivered through every call as a user moves between numerous different environments.

To add further support for workers on the go, the 5200 UC offers outstanding control features and will grant users one-touch access to Siri, Google Now or Cortana so they can easily call phone contacts, send messages schedule meetings and search the web using only their voice.

Moreover, the Caller ID and Voice Answer features mean that the headset will inform the user who is calling and enable them to either “answer” or “ignore” the call using only their voice while an innovative smart sensor employs contextual intelligence to detect when the headset is being worn and directs call audio accordingly.

Thanks to its multi-device compatibility and wireless Bluetooth connectivity, the 5200 supports BYOD and can be used on any device of the users choosing for consistent cross-platform coverage. As well as this, the headset has a range of up to 30m from whatever smartphone or laptop it is connected to, giving users much greater mobility during every call.

Finally, the Voyager 5200 UC offers 7 hours battery life per charge with an additional 14 extra hours available if bought with the charging case.

What do we like most?

As a device that is built to improve mobility and offer support to agents out on the road, we feel the inclusion of the one touch access to AI programmes such as Siri, Google Now or Cortana is an amazing feature that has the potential to save a great deal of time and allows users to work more seamlessly.

Who is it for?

Though the Voyager 5200 will work well in any environment, we feel that the kind of users who would benefit from it most are the ones that spend a lot of time travelling from one location to the next and need a headset that allows them to take calls without limitation.

CommsTader Opinion

An ideal headset for mobile workers that successfully eradicates background noise, massively improves call control, delivers high-quality audio during every call and offers much greater mobility for users as they travel from one location to the next.
