Hello and welcome back to Infocom 2026 where we're back on Crestron's booth talking about their work with Espa. It's nice to be joined again by Antonio Ortega for sure from Electronics. Thank you so much for joining us again.
Absolutely.
Well, we finished the last video talking about and we talked in the last video about what happened on a match day with 90,000 spectators in the stadium. What happens on a Monday morning when everything changes?
Well, obviously everybody's using Teams in the club. So, all the technology around the meeting rooms based around Teams room spaces. So, our collab compute is a very key product that is helping us deploy all these spaces and obviously we go from small ones to large ones to the boardroom which we have obviously intelligent video system. So in the end we are leveraging the technology across the different spaces that they have.
So from a technology side, what does it take to move the space from the match day to the meeting room?
Well, that's a great question because in the end for them it has to be very simple. We don't need really people that are super techy and we need to be able to provide a platform which for them is the key aspect in order to be able to, with such a big place, be able to switch as you said from a match day to a normal standard Monday morning, for example.
Yeah, absolutely. And what stays the same, I suppose we talked about the differences, but what stays the same between the two environments?
Well, the technology is always going to be almost transparent apart from obviously our control system. So effectively we've designed a solution which is very scalable and is based in models basically so they can basically deploy technology as they grow within the project. So for them they just recreate in the same spaces in different locations, different sizes, this. So it's pretty transparent the way we are doing this and for them it's also very simple to use, to scale and obviously to manage which is also a very important aspect of this project.
Of course, for the executive perhaps who's going to a meeting room by Vera on a Monday morning, what does the experience actually now look like for them?
Well, for them obviously they are based around Microsoft Teams as a native client, right? So you have one touch to join, presentation over wireless. So we're using AirMedia in order to help them present over USB-C without any application software or anything. But obviously the whole system can also become a bring your own device platform. So we are enabling them to use the room as they really need. So that's very flexible for them.
Well, let's go for a walk. We went on a walk last time. It's a little bit busy on the booth at the moment, Antonio. But I'd love to talk — we talked a bit about the meeting room. Let's talk about the experience for the visitor to Espai Barça.
Okay.
You know, the previous — how many match days? 20 or so match days, leaving 340 days of the year.
Absolutely.
What do those 340 or so days of the year now look like?
Well, yeah, obviously 20-odd is the games that were happening in the old Camp Nou, and this project basically is developed in order to use it all those 343 days. So basically we've created, according to their needs, because obviously they are a large organization, they have very high-end customers, so their idea of what the space needs to do is very clear. So that helps us very much to create a solution which for them is pretty flexible and they can pretty much manage it from the room remotely or whenever they want, they can change it from one side to another. So that's pretty spectacular for a venue of this size. Obviously we've moved conveniently in front of a screen which goes through some of the use cases.
Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Well planned, I think, when it comes to, you know, a commercial operation which is clearly hugely important.
Yeah.
What does running this venue now as a year-round commercial experience actually involve?
Well, I mean obviously a lot of people because it's a very, very large site, but obviously the control and the management of all this technology — thousands of endpoints, lighting, video, audio, and so many technologies together — that's a key aspect. Obviously, as you can imagine, deploying a system like this on this scale, it's critical that the control system is super stable, super reliable and very transparent for the user. And obviously XiO Cloud is another key aspect in the project. So from there we are managing all the technologies that are connected in the network, let's say, inside the stadium, which also helps them deploy new rooms, manage what's going on in all the different spaces. So that's also a key aspect — we know before it happens, they realize what's going on in each room. So that's also very important for them, and in terms of operations, it's just maximizing the use of the space.
And final question for you, Antonio. It's a really fascinating project. The scale of it is something else, like we've touched on. Is this something that you can see other large venues also looking at now and taking this example and running with it?
Yeah, absolutely. I think this is a perfect example of what the sport associations, the sport clubs and different large venues are thinking about doing, right? Because effectively we are creating return over their investment, and very quickly. So technology obviously has a big impact in all the operations side and also on all the capabilities that you are providing to the venue, and this is scalable to any kind of organization, you know, from venues to stadiums to arenas, to any sort of facility that you want to really have control, maintenance, management and have a complete 365-day use.
