Leading enterprise VoIP phone manufacturer Snom surveyed 2,046 employees, managers, and directors across France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK. Almost 2,000 of those surveyed, said they have a fixed-line desk phone.
Snom's poll revealed a lot more about European desk phone dependency, including the UK had the fastest migration rate of all the countries they surveyed. In a recent interview with UC Today, Fabio Albanini, Head of International Sales at Snom, told us:
"It’s clear that users are starting to see the intrinsic values of VoIP and reap the benefits of this versatile and quality-driven modern telephony solution"
He also told me, they're encouraged by the number of users who've moved to VoIP services and those who plan to make the switch. "We are even excited by those asking questions about what VoIP and new generation IP terminals can help them achieve,” Albanini added.
Europeans Love their Desk Phones
The specialist IP phone manufacturer's survey further showed the European market's attitudes toward business communications across the region. It also gave some insight into the role of fixed-line desk phones and VoIP phones.
The study's 2,046 respondents opened up about smartphones and PCs, too. To them, these two are far from undermining the "crucial role of desk phones." And eighty-four percent of those polled said they still prefer fixed-line office desk phones over alternatives.
Respondents were also asked if they incorporated VoIP into their business model, and over 42 percent of those with a desk phone said they had either migrated to VoIP - which is almost thirty percent of all who responded. Only fourteen percent said they planned to do so this year. The discrepancies among the five countries were even greater, Snom found. Here's a breakdown of what that looks like in practical terms:
