Founded in 1972, Mitel is arguably one of the most well known and highly respected brands in the telecommunications industry and has established itself as a world leader in providing a wide range of cutting-edge communication tools that have helped unify businesses and bring them closer together with their clients and peers like never before.
With Mitel you are pretty much always guaranteed to be happy with the product you receive but, due to the sheer size of the company and the seemingly infinite number of solutions they offer, it is crucial that you choose a model that suits your specific business type to ensure an ultimate return on your investment.
With this in mind, we have decided to write a review on Mitel’s latest flagship product (released November 2016), the MiVoice 6940 IP Phone, in a bid to help you understand the pros and cons of this machine and whether or not it is going to meet the demands of your business and users.
However, it is important to note that we are not selling this product, we are simply giving our professional opinion on how useful the product may or may not be to your business and we encourage you to do the same by contributing to our comments and review section located at the bottom of this page.
What is the MiVoice 6940 IP Phone?
According to Mitel, the MiVoice 6940 is the ultimate communication tool for any executives who demand a highly reliable, multi-functional phone that allows them to pull up information at the swipe of a finger and stay connected with all areas of their business anytime, any place.
With its beautiful 7” 800x480 pixel LCD touch screen display and crystal clear HD audio quality, we can clearly see this is a luxury phone designed for a businessperson looking for a device that oozes class and sophistication. For business owners and high end executives, first impressions are important and this phone strikes us as the kind you’d typically pair with a Bentley and a Rolex watch.
What are the basics?
At a fundamental level it offers all of the functions that you would expect from a Mitel branded SIP phone i.e. making and receiving calls with enterprise quality audio, as well as offering users staple communication features like Call Hold, Transfer, Forward, DND, Redial and Voicemail access all at the click of a button (or in this case a tap on the screen).
What makes this phone special?
As an IP phone, the MiVoice 6940 IP Phone allows users to make all of their business calls through a VoIP system, meaning mass savings are going to be gained when compared to the cost of calls made on a traditional analogue or digital system.
Alongside this, the 6940 also offers Bluetooth headset/handset compatibility as well as a MobileLink function that allows users to easily pair their mobile devices with their desk phone. Once paired, all calls made to the mobile can be answered directly through the 6940, all contacts stored in the mobile are automatically synchronised to the desktop phone and all apps on the mobile device can be accessed directly from the comfort of the handsets 7”LCD screen.

What bits do we love the most?
In terms of accessibility and increasing efficiency in the workplace, we can’t deny that the MobileLink feature is pretty amazing and love the fact that Mitel have installed a USB slot in the 6940 specifically so that users can charge their devices when not in use. Classy.
