Workday has announced a new partnership with earnings management company EarnIn, integrating the provider's financial wellness tools into Workday's Enhanced Direct Deposit Switching (EDDS) experience.
The integration is designed to simplify how employees connect their paychecks to EarnIn's services, creating a more streamlined enrollment process and reducing the administrative steps typically required to access financial wellbeing tools. Workday said the initiative aims to improve the overall employee experience while helping organizations support workforce financial wellness.
The move expands Workday's ecosystem beyond core HR and payroll functions and highlights how vendors are increasing the value of HR systems by embedding additional employee services directly into the user experience.
EarnIn Tools Become Accessible Through Workday's Payroll Experience
The partnership centers on Workday's Enhanced Direct Deposit Switching capability, which is designed to make it easier for employees to direct their paychecks to financial services and accounts of their choosing. Through new API integrations, the process removes the need for employees to manually enter routing and account information when connecting with participating providers.
By joining the EDDS ecosystem, EarnIn will be able to offer its services directly through the Workday experience. Employees who opt into the service will be able to access several of EarnIn's financial tools through an EarnIn account, including Live Pay, Early Pay, Balance Shield, and Credit Monitoring.
The agreement potentially gives EarnIn access to one of the largest enterprise HR ecosystems in the market. For Workday customers, the integration adds another option within a growing portfolio of employee-focused services.
A Move That Could Strengthen Workday's Appeal Among High-Turnover Workforces
While the announcement is centered on financial wellbeing, it could signal a broader opportunity for Workday to strengthen its appeal among high-turnover workforces, particularly frontline workers, who repeatedly report low levels of engagement with their respective employers.
A key reason for this is EarnIn's focus on earned wage access (EWA), a service that allows employees to access wages they have already earned before their scheduled payday.
The addition of these capabilities could help companies that use Workday better address the needs of a workforce segment that has historically received less attention from enterprise technology providers.
