Agora.io $70 million Series C funding

Leading provider of video, voice, and cloud broadcasting solutions, Agora.io recently announced the success of their Series C funding campaign. The cloud communications brand has closed their funding round with $70 million in investment, led by a technology sector hedge fund, Coatue Management. Coatue Management is known for investing in companies like SnapChat, Lime, Uber, and more. Existing investors such as Morningside, SIG, and Shunwei Capital all invested in the latest round.

The Agora.io company was founded in 2014 by a former WebEx Communications engineer, Tony Zhao, and a previous CTO of the Chinese Social Media channel YY.com. Agora offers state-of-the-art real-time communication solutions for web and mobile, with a suite of APIs that help developers to embed video, live voice, and broadcasting options into their existing platforms and applications.

A Successful Year for Agora.io

The $70 million funding round comes as part of a fantastic year for Agora, as the company has seen significant growth recently, with more than 2 billion SDK installations. Currently, Agora.io is one of the most popular RTC-based solutions on the market. What's more, the proprietary Software-Defined RTC solution routes around 10 billion minutes in live communications every month, through more than 200 globally-distributed data centres.

According to the CEO and Founder of Agora, Tony Zhao, the rise of the internet has changed the way that people communicate in the last decade. Now that technology is advancing more rapidly than ever, Agora wants to provide a new generation of real-time communication solutions that actively enhance customer engagement and experience.

Driven by the growing demand for mobile solutions and reliable connectivity around the world, Agora hopes to empower a new era of app-based communications with a range of developer tools to unlock new layers of audience engagement through real-time video and voice. In addition to the flagship video and voice SK, Agora also recently announced new products like the standalone AMG SDK for game developers and a React Native SDK for cross-native platform building.

Delivering Revolutionary Real-time Communications

Now that almost every industry feels more cluttered than ever, Agora believes that authentic user engagement and real-time experiences are crucial for their partners. According to the COO and CRO of Agora, Reggie Yativ, the company is thrilled to be working with such a wide range of innovative partners and customers to deliver next-level applications for virtually every industry.

Already, Agora's solutions have seen success in many different sectors. The CEO of The Meet Group Geoff Cook, revealed in an interview that the Agora voice and video Apis has helped his company to provide consumers with a new way to meet with customer centre agents and form connections.
