Salesforce has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Convergence.ai in a move that opens up Salesforce and its UC platform, Slack, to new generative AI assistant capabilities that can spin up agents.
The announcement also covers advancements to Salesforce's Agentforce pricing model.
“The next wave of customer interaction and employee productivity will be driven by highly capable AI agents that can navigate the complexities of today’s digital work,”
Adam Evans, EVP and GM of Salesforce AI Platform, said.
Salesforce's acquisition will give it access to Convergence.ai’s innovative approach to building adaptive, intelligent agents.
Convergence.ai's Abilities
Convergence.ai is an AI research lab specializing in developing advanced AI systems capable of performing complex, human-like tasks in digital environments.
The organization is known for releasing tools such as "Proxy," an AI agent designed to showcase the lab's capabilities in autonomous AI systems.
Connected to the web, Proxy creates agents on a per-request basis.
The AI agents can navigate the dynamic interfaces of the web and adapt in real time to challenges such as pop-ups and errors to complete multi-step workflows.
For instance, you can ask it to post on social media or research a topic, and it creates an agent or agents to do the job.
The vendor also has expertise in AI agent design, autonomous task execution, and adaptive system development.
Ostensibly, Salesforce's acquisition is about technology, but the company explained how it goes beyond that.
Convergence.ai's employees will "play a key role in advancing Salesforce's broader AI roadmap," Salesforce said in a press release.
“We are thrilled to welcome their talented team to Salesforce, and we look forward to their contributions in helping Agentforce deliver AI that truly transforms how work gets done,” Evans said.
Agentforce Pricing and Slack Potential
In a media email, Salesforce said Convergence.ai will bring expertise in AI agent design, autonomous task execution, and adaptive systems.
Already, Salesforce has its own agentic AI system, Agentforce, yet this suggests they are looking to augment it further with new abilities.
