GITEX is one of the Middle East's largest technology events. One of the most prominent brands at GITEX 2019 was Avaya. Following the major news of Avaya's partnership with RingCentral, the UC Today team visited Avaya, during the show, to speak to its President and Chief Executive Officer, Jim Chirico.

After covering the reasons behind GITEX's importance to Avaya, Patrick and Chirico discuss the RingCentral partnership news.

Chirico tells Patrick that the partnership with RingCentral is a real 'home run' for Avaya due to a number of different factors. The new "Avaya Cloud Office by RingCentral" product will provide Avaya's customer base with a truly cloud native multi-tenanted UCaaS solution.

"The RingCentral strategic partnership is a real home run for us. It is actually going to change the landscape."

Patrick asks Jim about the selection process that took place prior to the confirmation of the RingCentral deal. Chirico explains that there were three main criteria in mind, all of which have been met by the new partnership. The deal, which is still subject to regulatory approval, should enable Avaya to complete a number of key financial tasks that Chirico takes Patrick through.

Finally Patrick asks Chirico to explain how the new arrangement will help both parties in the future. As well as benefits for RingCentral, Chirico tells Patrick there a numerous other advantages for Avaya including a new sales channel for Avaya's endpoint devices which will be sold alongside RingCentral's remaining portfolio of software solutions.
