AWS, Mavenir Partner To Transform Cloud-Native Telco Deployment

Why telco buyers should care: Mavenir and AWS have signed a five-year SCA to simplify cloud-native 5G, IMS and RAN deployment on AWS. Published on UC Today.

AWS and Mavenir cloud-native telco partnership

Mavenir and AWS have partnered to transform cloud-native telco deployment.

Mavenir, a cloud-native network infrastructure provider, has unveiled the signing of a five-year Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with AWS. This partnership aims to revolutionise the deployment of telecom workloads running on the AWS platform.

In this strategic collaboration, the companies co-architect Mavenir's technology to simplify the development, testing, integration, and application of cloud-native solutions. By leveraging the high availability, scalability, and security features of AWS services, they aim to establish a new telco-grade deployment model.

This model is poised to revolutionise how operators introduce 5G, IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem), Radio Access Network (RAN), and future network technologies.

"Building on our long-term partnership and individual leadership in cloud technology, Mavenir and AWS are now working together to leverage the key attributes of the public cloud to enable unprecedented adaptability of telco workloads," said Bejoy Pankajakshan, EVP, Chief Technology and Strategy Officer at Mavenir.

As part of this collaboration, we are combining our strengths to support the ambition of operators to migrate into the public cloud, delivering uniquely optimized solutions that ensure fast and efficient deployment – and a dramatic reduction in Total Cost of Ownership. We believe that this partnership will revolutionize the telco industry, allowing us to deliver innovative, scalable, and secure solutions that will shape the future of cloud-native services."

Mavenir and AWS will also collaborate on co-investing in developing functionalities tailored for CPSs. These include enhanced dynamic autoscaling, automation, and reliability enhancements to facilitate the migration to AWS.

Mavenir stresses that the partnership aspires to transcend technical collaboration and co-development and will also centre on boosting market adoption.

“While this is a potent combination of the flexibility and scalability of the AWS cloud with Mavenir’s market-leading cloud-native technology and deep telco domain expertise, as partners, we will also collaborate on joint market development – with clear targets set to accelerate market adoption," added Aniruddho Basu, EVP of Emerging Business and Partnerships at Mavenir.

Mavenir's cloud-native and containerised software development approach, combined with AWS cloud infrastructure, signifies a strategic alignment. This partnership aims to allow telecom operators and enterprises to innovate and adopt new business models more effectively.

By streamlining network deployment, reducing the total cost of ownership, and automating operations, cloud-based network solutions empower telco operators to modernise their traditional business models, boost profitability, and introduce new technologies and innovative products to both consumer and enterprise customers.

What Else Has AWS Been Up To Recently?

Vonage and AWS partnered on communications and networking APIs in February to foster innovation.

Vonage, a subsidiary of Ericsson, and AWS collaborated to integrate Vonage's platform, which utilises communication and network APIs, with Ericsson's advanced 5G network capabilities and the comprehensive suite of AWS services. The partnership aims to accelerate the availability of intelligent solutions to millions of developers within the AWS community through the AWS Marketplace.

Meanwhile, last week, AWS announced that its generative AI assistant for enterprise, Amazon Q, was generally available.

AWS introduces Amazon Q as a premier Gen AI-powered assistant tailored for developers. It aims to streamline software development processes and leverage internal data within organizations.

In its enterprise-focused version, Q Business, AWS promises a revolutionary AI-powered assistant capable of answering queries, generating summaries, producing content, and securely executing tasks using enterprise data. This innovation empowers employees to enhance creativity, utilise data-driven insights, and increase efficiency, readiness, and productivity.
