Barco Integrates ClickShare with Teams for Enhanced Management and UX

Barco ClickShare now feeds Teams Rooms Pro Management Portal data, improving IT management and UX for BYOM, BYOD and Microsoft Teams users. Published on UC Toda

Barco ClickShare Teams integration

Barco has partnered with Microsoft Teams to bring ClickShare devices data to the Microsoft Teams Rooms Pro Management Portal and Pro Portal to improve management and end-user experiences.

IT managers will gain deeper room and device usage insights, while users can enjoy the same quality of experience on Teams as they would elsewhere.

The Barco ClickShare solution allows users to host calls from their own laptops and video conferencing platforms, while utiliising audio and video equipment in their meeting rooms.

Jan van Houtte, Head of Product at Barco, outlined some of the benefits or its latest integration with Microsoft Teams: “ClickShare has always put the user at the heart of the experience, while guaranteeing IT managers have the necessary insights to equip meeting rooms in the most optimal way.

“Through this integration, Microsoft and Barco will work together to build easy management systems at scale for their customers.

“The joint forces in the Shared Spaces initiative are a first yet crucial step to explore market opportunities and establish a future portfolio.”

The Barco ClickShare Solution

According to Barco, the modern workforce has adapted to the Bring Your Own Meeting (BYOM) and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) meeting room setups.

It says it has been leading the market through its wireless BYOM approach, with FutureSource Consulting, a market research company, estimating that ClickShare accounts for more than 50 percent of the global wireless conferencing market.

ClickShare has deployed over 240,00 conferencing devices, making it a major source of data for Microsoft Teams Rooms management, which could lead into future collaborations.

This step allows the user’s desktop client to locate the connected microphone, camera, and speaker through the ClickShare Base Unit and Button when starting a Teams call, bringing data into the Teams Pro Portal.

When users have connected to the shared ClickShare Base Unit, the relevant information is added to the Pro Management Portal for IT managers to provide meeting space management and registration capabilities.

Dan Root, Head of Global Strategic Alliances at Barco, commented on the new partnership: “Barco shares a clear focus with Microsoft on creating the best meeting experience.

“This focus drives our decision making, strategy, and partnerships, which has led us to take this step.

“We are very pleased to be a part of the Microsoft Teams Devices ecosystem, and to bring Microsoft into our partnership program.

“Through this collaboration we will work together to build industry-leading solutions that take collaboration to the next level.”

Headquartered in Kortijk, Belgium, Barco is a global company that provides collaboration and visualisation technology to assist in the enterprise, healthcare, and entertainment markets.

Barco employs more than 3,300 who have collectively amassed over 900 unique patents. Last year, the company realised sales of 1,050 million euros.

In June, 2023, UC Today’s David Dungay spoke to Daniel Root, Head of Global Alliances at Barco to discuss meeting switching, the way in which ClickShare is approaching displaying content versus meeting participants, as well as Root’s new appointment.
