Daisy Boosts Broadband Connections for SMBs with UK Gigabit Plan

Daisy recently became the supplier of a government-backed scheme to improve broadband connectivity for SMBs throughout the UK.

Daisy Group UK Gigabit broadband for SMBs

The largest independent supplier of UK IT solutions and business communications services, Daisy Group, recently announced its part in an exciting government scheme. As a leader in the world of IT, voice, data, and cloud, Daisy will be helping to supply the UK with bigger and better broadband connections for the small to mid-sized business sector.

The initiative, known as the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme (GBVS) should help companies throughout the UK to finally achieve a much-needed upgrade to their broadband connections. Daisy is a registered supplier of the plan, which will offer grants of up to £3,000 to organisations who need to embrace the new Gigabit-capable connections.

Improving Connectivity in the UK

The recent scheme is part of a much larger programme designed to provide companies in the UK with full-fibre networks, capable of supporting bandwidth-draining solutions like VoIP, cloud, and hosted services. The £200 million "Full Fibre Networks" programme will offer essential upgrades to faster internet, and Daisy has announced that they're thrilled to be part of the event.

According to the Marketing Director of the SMB division for the brand, Julien Parven, the company is pleased to have been named a supplier of the new Gigabit Broadband Voucher scheme. As more SMBs explore the concept of digital transformation (DX) for a modern world, Daisy is proud to help smaller companies to get started on their path towards stronger, more connected futures.

The plan to provide customers with more bandwidth for their organisations should have a significant impact on the digital infrastructure in the UK, ensuring that smaller companies can tap into a broader range of services.

Taking Part in the Gigabit Voucher Scheme

Gigabit Broadband Voucher SchemeThe Secretary of State for Culture, Digital, Sport, and Media, Matt Hancock noted that small businesses make up an essential part of the British economy. With this new scheme, they should be able to start making the most out of their connectivity with much faster and broader connections. The programme is now available to access across the UK, after an announcement made in March following a trial in 2017.

Eventually, the hope is that the whole of Britain will be able to access the benefits of a full-fibre infrastructure, ready for the ever-changing digital environment. To be eligible for the GBVS, SMBs need to have fewer than 250 employees and a turnover that's less than around £43 million. The grant will also apply to sole traders.
