Deutsche Telekom is set to be the only provider in Germany to offer "Mobile für Microsoft Teams" as the platforms unite to offer a rounded UC experience to customers.
Once deployed, users can make and receive national and international calls with their mobile phone numbers directly in the Teams platform, regardless of their locations or devices.
The additional features of Teams chat and video conferencing allow Telekom and Microsoft to create a forward-looking solution for communication and collaboration.
Hagen Rickmann, Managing Director Business Customers, Telekom Deutschland GmbH, commented: "People no longer work only in the office, but also in the home office, mobile and via different devices.
"Even after the pandemic, the work environment will continue to change. For example, IDC predicts a sharp drop in local business meetings to 25% in 2024.
"With our partner Microsoft, we offer Mobile für Microsoft Teams, a solution that unites all communication needs across platforms. This creates seamless fixed-mobile convergence and significantly increases the resilience of companies."
Mobile für Microsoft Teams is the same as Operator Connect Mobile, which was launched earlier this year by Microsoft.
Operator Connect Mobile allows a SIM-enabled number across mobile, desktop and Microsoft Teams.
Operator Connect Mobile is a fixed-mobile convergence that combines a user's carrier service and the collaboration platform.
Calls can be made across both voice and data networks, and users can switch between devices – for example, they can seamlessly move from a voice network-enabled call on a mobile phone to a video call on a laptop.
Mobile für Microsoft Teams can be directly managed in the Microsoft Teams Admin Center, with the set-up being simple for users.
Telekom customers can import the telephone numbers directly into the Teams platform and assign them to users.
