Enterprise Call Quality & Resiliency from Cato Networks

Why it matters: Cato Networks has been certified as a RingCentral connectivity partner for resilient, high-quality voice over SD-WAN. Published on UC Today, it

Cato Networks call quality and resiliency

Cato Networks, a leading provider of cloud-based SD-WAN in Israel, recently announced that it had been certified as a RingCentral connectivity partner. The certification was offered as an outcome of stringent resiliency and call quality testing conducted by RingCentral. The Tests showed that Cato Networks were able to maintain consistent call-quality, even when dealing with sub-standard networks.

Cato Networks aims to help businesses remove the shackles of MPLS from on-premises voice and video services once and for all. The company offers enterprises a way to enhance and accelerate their cloud communication strategy, using highly predictable, affordable and reliable connectivity.

Optimising Cato Network Performance

According to the SVP of Cloud Operations for RingCentral, Curtis Peterson, many enterprises are turning to SD-WAN to ensure higher levels of call quality and availability. As part of the partner certification process, RingCentral tested Cato's ability to provide high-quality voice in even the poorest network conditions. Cato can accommodate more than 15% packet loss while managing a continuous level of high voice quality.

Cato Networks connects both the mobile workforce and the branch locations of their customers into RingCentral datacentres with a secure cloud-native network. The company optimises RingCentral access by:

  • Preventing last-mile packet loss and congestion that may undermine voice quality with upstream and downstream QoS, policy-based routing, and traffic prioritisation
  • Minimising latency by carrying cloud comms traffic across Cato's managed global network, directly onto RingCentral shared data centres
  • Securing users and the network against attacks without the need for additional security services or appliances
  • Compensating for brownouts and minimising blackouts with last-mile active protection and packet loss techniques

Bringing RingCentral and Cato Networks Together

President of Sales for the Americas at Cato Networks, Nick Fan noted that cloud communications today require low-latency, predictable connections. The cloud from Cato Networks offers this premium level connectivity with the reliability needed for modern customers.

RingCentral's testing proved that Cato Networks could guarantee high-quality voice even with more than 15% packet loss. RingCentral testing requires partners to maintain MOS scores of at least 3.8 or higher. Cato Networks and RingCentral are excited about making the most of their collaboration going forward.
