RingCentral stock price changes

What's going on with RingCentral?

If you've been keeping an eye on the stock market recently, then you probably noticed the huge jump in RingCentral (NYSE: RNG) shares at the beginning of this month. As rumours about potential buyouts and private equity firm purchases have emerged throughout the market, the stocks have sprung into action, growing up to 19.9% higher! At the time of writing this report, the stocks have once again begun to settle, but investors are still on the edges of their seats.

Reports suggest that the communications experts have cultivated some interest from private equity companies who are willing to push some cash in their direction. Though the rumours remain unconfirmed, there are plenty of whispers in the news space suggesting that RingCentral has acquired the help of a financial adviser to assist with the arrangement of a company takeover.

So, What Happens Now?

The rumour mill is still churning, and some sources suggest that RingCentral will continue to act as an independent company, even with investment from private equity firms. Of course, right now, it's impossible for us to say what's coming next without some solid proof. What we can do, is look at the market as it stands, for some guidance.

For instance, we've seen a lot of movement in the communications market lately. Avaya is approaching the end of their Chapter 11 process, and Mitel has joined forces with ShoreTel to create a potentially huge new combined vendor in the world of cloud communications.

RingCentral is a fast growing company and their stock has been in a pretty positive position throughout most of this year, with a 90% market return year-to-date. In other words, if you're reading this as an interested buyout investor, then you'd better make your move fast. Of course, on the other side of things, it's difficult to value the company based on revenue growth alone.

Is There Going to Be a Deal?

Right now, it's uncertain whether a deal will go through or not. If you ask me, there's a good chance that there really are some serious talks going on with RingCentral - but whether those conversations turn into cold hard cash is another thing entirely. After all, it's tough for even financial analysts to give us a solid figure on the market value that RingCentral has to offer.

We'll keep you posted on the details of any sales that might show up, so watch this space.
