Gamma, a supplier of leading UCaaS solutions across the UK, Spanish, and Dutch markets, recently announced its acquisition of HFO Holding AG. Gamma Communications purchased 80% of the shares of HFO Holding AG on the 1st of July. The option to acquire the remaining shares is available over the course of the next 3 years.
HFO is currently one of the leading providers of SIP trunk technology in Germany, providing an excellent reputation for end-customer service and product quality. HFO has been looking for an opportunity to built on its expertise in the business communications and VoIP market. Recently, the company began selling cloud offerings in the PBX environment through an extensive collection of channel partners within Germany.
Gamma chose to purchase HFO as part of it’s growing strategy to expand across Europe.
Expanding Across the Globe
Gamma Communications has been working on expanding across Europe recently, and previously identified the German market as a key space for growth. The market includes around 36 million PBX seats, which means that it’s almost twice as large as the UK. However, Germany also only has a cloud penetration of 6%, which is one of the lowest rates in the area.
The market for cloud in Germany is set to grow at a rapid place. Gamma believes that purchasing HFO will help it to use it’s commercial strength and expertise in the cloud environment to accelerate the transformation of the German market. Gamma has successfully created a significant image in the SIP market, and a leading presence in cloud PBX.
The Gamma team will work with the experienced HFO management term to access new success in Germany. Like Gamma, HFO sells primarily through partners, but also sells to end users directly.
