Getronics Celebrates Equality in the ICT Industry with "Women in Technology"

Getronics, a globally-leading ICT service provider, recently announced their new "Women in Technology" programme to support diversity.

Getronics Women in Technology

Getronics, a global ICT integrator with a history of innovation that spans over 130 years, recently demonstrated their forward-thinking approach to the technology industry with the "Women in Technology" programme.

Thanks to their global presence working with clients from varying backgrounds and cultures, Getronics places significant weight on the importance of diversity and inclusion in every industry. For years, the business has been promoting equal opportunities for both employees and customers alike, and now, they feel that it's time to do more for the women in the ICT space.

While we are starting to see more women gradually make their way into technology, female ICT employees are still a minority in the sector. The new Women in Technology programme will encourage women to develop their skills and reach their full potential in the ICT world, hopefully inspiring other girls and ambitious students to do the same.

Highlighting the Importance of Gender Diversity

In a press release about the Women in Technology awards, the Global Head of Human Capital and Change for Getronics, Deborah Exell drew focus to the importance of the workforce in driving success for any business. She noted that

"diverse talent is the heart of innovation"

particularly in the technology sector. After all, the different perspectives and ideas that a wide range of people can bring to a business can be the perfect spark for creativity.

The Getronics ICT integration company is built on foundations of transparency, respect, and integrity, and they want to share those concepts with the world around them. Getronics believes that it's time for all companies to come together and unite in breaking down the barriers that prevent complete equality and inclusion within the work environment.

Welcoming Women into ICT

Deborah noted that Getronics believe a harassment-free and bullying-free workspace is crucial for any company, and that equal opportunities must be available for all in the technology niche. To support their women in technology initiative, Getronics is implementing a range of practical measures intended to impact the long-term development of women in the IT enterprise. For instance, Getronics has created a group of role models within leadership positions in tech to help drive the initiative.

Getronics will also be hosting regional roundtables to help identify talent in various locations, input inclusion, and diversity strategies, and deliver coaching to those in need. The company also plans to emphasise and celebrate women's successes in technology. Global head of Engineering and Solutions for Getronics, Caroline Montgomery states that this is just the first step of the program. Eventually, the business wants to help promote inclusiveness for all ethnicities, believes, genders, and ages alike.
