Ericsson-LG Enterprise’s new iPECS ONE offering is a “game-changer” because of the way it delivers a simple intuitive Collaboration experiences leveraging standards based WebRTC technology, according to Ahed Alkhatib, VP of Global Sales and Marketing.
The vendor launched iPECS ONE earlier this year, stating it is the next generation of mobile and PC-based voice and video communications. It is developed using WebRTC technology, allowing subscribers to setup voice, video and chat sessions quickly and easily from their browser, negating the need to download applications and manage software releases.
“iPECS ONE is a game-changer; it is the latest evolution of our collaboration platform that leverages standards based WebRTC technology, which gives us the ability to deliver a superior user experience from any device,” Alkhatib told UC Today.
“We're able to leverage web-based technologies that – either by a mobile device or a desktop device – deliver that consistent user experience across platforms and devices. That's really how this is a superior solution.”
iPECS ONE is a component of the iPECS Cloud platform and offers a new range of tools for remote workers, including voice calls, chat, video, contacts and call log. Its utilisation of WebRTC is indicative of how the market is changing, Alkhatib said.
“This is an important trend across the industry and while there are several solutions available in the market today from competing vendors – not all are leveraging the full capabilities of WebRTC” he explained.
“Now that the WebRTC standard has been ratified – we expect many other vendors to migrate their legacy Collaboration solutions to adopt and take advantage of the many benefits that WebRTC offers.
Ericsson-LG Enterprise has been working with service provider partner Pragma in the UK to pilot iPECS ONE. Will Morey, Pragma’s Sales and Marketing Director, said that he has seen “great appetite” in the mid-market and enterprise for the solution, despite it being optimised for SMBs.
