Recently, the CMO and Head of Strategy and Development and Infovista, Marc Serra, got involved.

The first prediction that Marc made referred to the increase of OSS integration among mobile operators, and the accelerated move to the cloud. Operation Support Systems are a common issue for transforming mobile networks, according to Serra, because many of them are outdated. The rise of virtual networks and expanded OpenRAN technologies, however, means that more operators are planning on moving their OSS to the cloud for agility.
A few operators, like DT, Elisa, and Rakuten, have already started the cloudification adventure, each following unique paths to success. However, Marc notes that all of these companies demonstrate that crucial functions like design, troubleshooting and service assurance can all be available from the cloud, supporting 5G rollout.
Prediction 2: The Automation of the Network Lifecycle
According to Serra, the promise of Self-Organised Networks (SON) has been around for a while now – around a decade in fact. However, this solution has failed to fully deliver on its potential so far. For years, companies have struggled to automate parts of the lifecycle. Recent studies from Infovista indicate that around half of CSPs are going to be expanding or deploying automated systems going forward.
