Logitech Adds ChatGPT Button to Hardware

Logitech’s free Logi AI Prompt Builder adds a ChatGPT shortcut to keyboards and a new mouse, helping UC Today readers boost AI productivity.

Logitech ChatGPT button hardware

Logitech has released its free Logi AI Prompt Builder that can make it easier to construct ChatGPT requests and is quickly accessible via keyboard and mouse shortcuts.

This will make it faster and easier for users to access ChatGPT, as well as helping to get the most out of OpenAI’s revolutionary generative AI-powered, natural language processing (NLP) chatbot.

The Swiss electronics company simultaneously launched a new wireless mouse with a dedicated AI prompt button to provide a permanent shortcut to its prompt builder.

The new software and hardware creations arrive soon after Microsoft’s decision to introduce Windows keyboards with a dedicated Copilot key, which is the first major change it has made to its keyboard design in 30 years.

Delphine Donné, General Manager of the Personal Workspace business at Logitech, comments on the upgrade to user experience that comes with the Logi AI Prompt Builder: “As the bridge between people and their digital experiences, Logitech has a critical role to play in the evolution of AI, both with new innovation and our existing portfolio.

“New Logi AI Prompt Builder is a shortcut to AI fluency for anyone with a Logitech mouse or keyboard compatible with Logi Options+ software who wants easily to access AI’s limitless potential.

“It is just one example of Logitech’s innovation around the many opportunities AI offers. ChatGPT alone is seeing approximately 1.6 billion visits each month - a reflection of AI’s ability to enhance and accelerate people’s productivity and creativity.”

‘Recipes’ for ChatGPT

When you access Logitech’s ChatGPT prompt builder, you will be confronted with various ‘Recipes’. These are essentially categories to assist you with the key features of ChatGPT, which include ‘Rephrase’, ‘Summarise’, ‘Reply’, ‘Create Email’, and ‘Photo’.

If you choose the ‘Reply’ option, for example, the Logi AI Builder can help formulate the optimal request to ChatGPT by including presets for instructions, length, and style that can be redefined in seconds.

When the Logi AI Prompt Builder is launched, it appears as a pop-up window and automatically imports the text you have selected into the software, further minimising any interruption to the flow of work.

The Logi AI Prompt Builder can be used by anyone for free provided they also have a Logitech keyboard or mouse with support from the English language version of the Logi Options+ application.

For a compatible keyboard, you could choose from the Logitech Ergo, MX, Signature, and Studio Series devices.

If you would prefer a dedicated AI prompt button, then the new Logitech Signature AI Edition Mouse offers a shortcut to the Logi AI Prompt Builder as well.

Logitech has revealed that its Signature AI Edition Mouse will be made available this month to customers in the US and the UK for $49.99 and £54.99 respectively.

The company has not yet announced whether it will be linking the hardware shortcuts to other chatbots.

For a more highly customised enterprise experience of ChatGPT, OpenAI released a no-code ChatGPT builder for businesses in June last year.

Known simply as ‘GPTs’, personalised versions of ChatGPT can be generated for specific use cases. Businesses can use these to develop internal-only GPTs for their workers.
