Microsoft Teams recently announced the impending arrival of a new way to get involved with your Teams meetings. If you’ve been keeping up to date with the Microsoft Teams roadmap, then you’ll notice that there’s new functionality on the horizon that allows users to join a meeting via a digital call. This functionality will be similar to a feature offered by Zoom that makes it quick and easy to enter your meeting just with a meeting PIN or code.
Over the last few months, Microsoft has been consistently rolling out updates to Teams to make it easier for people to join however they choose, including from Outlook messages. Additionally, it’s now possible to “Share” an invite with other members of your Teams’ group.
The ability to join a meeting by entering a conversations unique ID number will be another valuable step in the right direction to make Teams meetings more accessible.
Using Teams Meeting IDs
According to WindowsCentral and OnMsft, Microsoft issued an announcement with the announcement of the new feature, explaining that all meetings will have their own unique ID. This ID is automatically assigned to each Teams user and added to the meeting invite beneath that meeting link. Using the ID available, attendees will be able to join the meeting from anywhere.
All meeting attendees should be able to join via the ID on desktop, mobile, or the Microsoft Teams web client. This will be essentially a new way of sharing information about a Teams Meeting, rather than just sharing a link to the meeting. The pre-join, security, and lobby requirements for meeting attendees will remain the same when someone joins via an ID.
