Microsoft Teams Recovering Following Outage

Microsoft Teams is recovering after a global outage affected Word, Office Online and SharePoint Online, highlighting Microsoft 365 risk.

Microsoft Teams is back up and running for most users following a global outage.

The Microsoft 365 Twitter account tweeted about the issue at 02:47 BST following reports from users about not being able to access Teams. https://twitter.com/MSFT365Status/status/1549934141738651648 At 05:13 BST, Microsoft tweeted to say that Teams functionality was "beginning to recover" however, Microsoft's Service Status page states that some users may still face issues.

Microsoft provided the cause of the outage in a tweet, stating: "We've determined that a recent deployment contained a broken connection to an internal storage service, which has resulted in impact.

"We're working to direct traffic to a healthy service to mitigate the impact."

The outage impacted other Microsoft 365 services that feature Teams integration, such as Microsoft Word, Office Online and SharePoint Online.

 

During the outage, users reported that they could not access chat or use any features of the Teams app.

Some users also reported that they could not log in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Centre for updates on the outage.

#MicrosoftTeams started to trend on Twitter as users shared updates about the outage on the social media site.

The outage comes days after Inspire 2022, during which Microsoft set out its roadmap of features that are coming to the Teams platform.

 

 

The company has also announced that Teams will see Viva Engage integrated into the platform in the coming months.

Viva Engage will act as a social media platform designed to build communities between hybrid workers.
