Now generally available, Nuance's DAX Copliot uses conversational, ambient, and generative AI to assist healthcare workers.
Dragon Ambient eXperience (DAX) Copilot, previously called DAX Express, serves as an AI copilot for automated clinical documentation, helping physicians streamline medical documentation creation.
As a result, the solution enhances clinical efficiency, alleviates burnout, and frees up time, allowing doctors to dedicate more time to improving patient care.
Diana Nole, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Healthcare at Nuance, a Microsoft company, spoke about the need for copilots in healthcare: "Healthcare is one of the most significant areas of potential for copilots given the tremendous administrative burden placed on clinicians and other medical staff.
Taking a responsible approach to AI that centres around unparalleled collaboration with the world's top AI researchers and access to a trusted infrastructure and global platform, Nuance is arming healthcare providers with a trusted copilot that enables them with more time to take care of their patients."
Nuance points to a report by Morgan Stanley that predicts AI spending in healthcare will increase to 10.5 percent in 2024. In the U.S., health systems are turning to AI solutions to improve efficiency and reduce clinician burnout.
It also cited a Medscape survey, which found that the number of physicians reporting symptoms of burnout grew to 53 percent in 2023, compared to 42 percent in 2018.
In seconds, DAX Copilot can securely generate clinical summaries of telehealth or exam room conversations for physicians to review and enter into the electronic health record (EHR) system.
DAX Copilot works in conjunction with Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare and leverages Nuance's conversational and ambient AI with the latest generative AI model.
