Operator Connect Given General Availability Date

Operator Connect’s move to general availability gives Teams buyers a new voice option; Microsoft details rollout, Operator Connect conferencing and Audio Confer

Microsoft Operator Connect general availability

Microsoft has revealed the timeline for Operator Connect moving to general availability.

According to the Microsoft 365 roadmap, the move from public preview is pencilled in for the end of September this year.

Operator Connect was announced in March this year at Microsoft Ignite. It is billed as a third option for bringing voice into Microsoft Teams, alongside Direct Routing and Microsoft Calling Plans.

Sitting somewhere between these two options, it provides an element of the flexibility from Direct Routing, with some of the simplicity from Calling Plans.

Microsoft said that it will begin transitioning Operator Connect to general availability towards the end of September, with the rollout expected to be completed in early October.

It had previously moved to public preview in May, following a private period with a select group of Microsoft partners.

Microsoft also revealed that Operator Connect conferencing is set to become generally available in December.

This allows businesses to add telecom operator dial-in numbers to a Microsoft Audio Conferencing bridge while maintaining service with their preferred carrier.
