Our usual expert guest and Microsoft MVP Tom Arbuthnot, from Modality Systems, joins Patrick to review all of the Microsoft Teams news from the past few weeks.
Both Patrick and Tom have been away at different industry events. Tom has been at the Microsoft MVP Global Summit which has been taking place in Redmond. Meanwhile Patrick was attending Enterprise Connect 2019 where there were a host of Microsoft Teams announcements.
Before the guys review the Enterprise Connect announcements Tom tells Patrick about the latest development with direct routing for Teams. Media Bypass has now been made available. Tom explains that this new feature allows organisations send media directly from an end user to the Session Border Controller, SBC, removing the need to have it relayed back from Microsoft's cloud Phone System.

Patrick and Tom then move onto to discuss the raft of new Microsoft Teams updates that were unveiled at Enterprise Connect. There were 8 new updates in total including the release of customisable backgrounds for meetings, a physical whiteboard optimisation feature and the introduction of private channels.
Tom talks Patrick through all of the different updates and explains how they will work for organisations practically. One of the updates that has been most eagerly anticipated and requested by the Microsoft community is the feature for private channels. Useful in situations or environments where sensitive information needs to be privatised, the channels will allow Teams users to create channels where only a selection of the team have access to the chat and files.
