Patrick and Jonathan cover off all the latest news from the recent Cisco events. Firstly the guys examine all of the news that emerged from BroadSoft Connections. Normally focused on BroadSoft communication news, this is the first year that Cisco had been involved with the event after their acquisition of BroadSoft. This year there was much more focus on collaboration and the guys cover off the various announcements which included BroadCloud Calling becoming available through Cisco Webex Teams and some new product releases including the Webex Share and Webex Room Kit Mini.
There does appear to be a few areas of product overlap within the new Cisco portfolio with some of the former BroadSoft products. Jonathan explains how Cisco are positioning some of these products to cater for different customer sections in terms of size, for example.
Jonathan then tells Patrick about the Cisco Partner Summit which took place, at the same time as Connections, on the other side of the United States in Las Vegas. The Partner Summit provided the first platform for Amy Chang, SVP for the Collaboration Technology Group at Cisco, to take the stage and outline some of her plans to the partner community. There were several areas of focus for Cisco during the summit, including there continued focus on simplification both in terms of buying and operating Cisco solutions.
