Patrick is joined by special guests Rick Hawkes, Sales Engineering Manager Avaya UK, and Richard Jenner, Senior Business Development Manager at Avaya.
Firstly Patrick asks Richard to explain the difference between some of the more general cloud options. What is hybrid cloud in comparison to public and private cloud? Richard concisely breaks down the variants and also covers some of the benefits in each instance.
Rick then explains to Patrick how Avaya have different options available within each different variant of the cloud, whether that is hybrid, public or private.
"What Avaya has is a very well established customer base, which spans a wide spectrum. There are a lot of customers out there consuming our technologies and they have different characteristics and different maturity levels when it comes to cloud and our customers and partners clearly want options."
Richard is also keen to enquire that a hybrid option isn't always a phase of the journey for a customer moving to the cloud. In some cases it might be the best option for them where a full cloud solution might never be completely suitable.
"The important element there is that element of choice - it is about customer choice"
Patrick used the analogy of staircase when looking at cloud variants but Richard thinks of it more as a continuum with a huge range of options for customers. The right option obviously depends completely on the type of business in question, industry vertical etc.
Rick and Richard then look in more detail at some of the benefits to each version of cloud solutions. The desire to adopt emerging technologies is one of the main drivers for customers to look at cloud solutions options. Richard and Rick then give us some use cases for these within different environments.
