Ribbon has unveiled a significant extension to its Connect portfolio with the Ribbon Connect for Webex.

The multi-tenant, software as a service (SaaS) solution enables service providers to rapidly deliver telephony services to Webex Calling deployments worldwide via Cloud Connect.

The Ribbon Connect portfolio means service providers can accelerate their integration to Webex Calling and other market-leading UC providers.

Tony Scarfo, EVP and General Manager of Ribbon's Cloud and Edge Business Unit, commented:

"Ribbon and Webex share some of the world’s largest service providers as customers and we’re committed to continually improving our offerings to help them succeed in a dynamic landscape.

"We're extending our Ribbon Connect portfolio to accelerate their access to new revenue sources and empower them to retain organisations migrating to cloud-based calling as customers."

According to Ribbon, the Connect portfolio fully complements its extensive range of SBCs and voice threat prevention capabilities.

Webex hopes that by selecting Ribbon as a launch partner for the Calling Enablement Program that it will give its customers a more extensive selection when they look for communication technology.

Lorrissa Horton, SVP/GM, Webex Calling and Contact Center, said: "I am excited that Ribbon Communications will join Webex as the launch partner for the Cloud Connect for Webex Calling Enablement Program.

"Since we launched Webex Calling, our goal has been to provide our customers with a seamless path to the cloud.

"The Cloud Connect Enablement Program fulfils this promise by giving our customers the flexibility to select from a vast range of PSTN providers, reducing the cost and complexity of cloud migrations.

"Ribbon is helping providers to accelerate their deployments, giving our customers more choice."

Last month, Ribbon confirmed that its Session Border Controllers (SBC) had been certified for Google's new Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Link.

Ribbon's SBC 5400, SCB SWe, SBE SWe Edge, SBC 1000, and SBC 2000 can now be deployed by Google Cloud business customers to leverage Google Voice telephony services.

As communications continue to shift to the cloud, Ribbon hopes that its products will help optimise workforces worldwide following the Google certification.

Earlier this year, Ribbon raised $52 million from the sale of its stock to help pay its debts and increase its working capital.

The stock was sold as a private placement to selected investors, including Neuberger Berman and some of the company's biggest shareholders, such as JPMorgan Chase and Swarth Group.

The communications software company issued roughly 17 million shares in the private placement at $3.05.
