RingCentral Launches BYOC

RingCentral’s BYOC lets buyers use third-party telephony in MVP, aiding cloud migration; certified with AudioCodes, Ribbon and Teams integration.

RingCentral BYOC launch

RingCentral has launched a bring-your-own-carrier (BYOC) offering that allows businesses to plug telephony from third-party providers in its Message Video Phone (MVP) platform.

The firm said the announcement will give businesses an extra choice as they plot their move to the cloud, while still allowing them to use the features in its collaboration solution.

BYOC is certified by SBC vendors including AudioCodes and Ribbon and will be available before the end of the year.

RingCentral said that the benefits include being able to provision telephony outside of the regions it covers outside of its own supported regions, while allowing for a controlled migration for those businesses looking to move to the cloud.

The vendor added that safety features with location will be made available to businesses in the US, with emergency response management coming worldwide.

The move is a development on the announcement made earlier this year, which saw Bandwidth announced as the first carrier for its BYOC offering.

Elsewhere, RingCentral is upgrading its integration with Microsoft Teams, to now include access to SMS, fax, voicemail and call-to-web. The new features will be available across Q4 this year and Q1 2022.

Jaya Kumar, Global Chief Marketing Officer at RingCentral, said: “RingCentral’s mission is to give customers the very best business communications capabilities in a secure, trusted, and reliable way, and we’re delighted to extend RingCentral’s capabilities to organisations using Microsoft Teams.

“Teams need to be able to collaborate whether it is scheduled, spontaneous or ongoing.

“Teams also need to connect from any device and across modalities. It is about being able to connect when, where and how you want.”

Last week, RingCentral revealed that it has become the exclusive UCaaS partner for Mitel, which also saw it acquire IP from the latter.
