Microsoft recently announced a new way for Teams users to join their meetings faster than ever. Since 2017, UserVoice community members have been shouting for a more convenient way to join meetings from Outlook. Although Skype for Business offered a “Join a Meeting” button included on the Outlook reminder, Teams was mysteriously lacking this feature, until now.
Teams users will now see a “Join Meeting” button for all Microsoft Teams reminders on Outlook too. This means that if you schedule a Teams meeting on Outlook, you should be able to join the call directly from your Outlook window.
The updated feature should put an end to the stress of having to jump between different communication and conferencing apps when connecting with team members.
A Simpler Way to Join Meetings
A quick-access Join Meeting function is already in place for Google Workspace team members, who can connect to Google Meet calls directly from their calendar, or Gmail mobile app. Before now, Outlook users had to go through a complex process to join meetings via Microsoft Teams. Users needed to go into their calendar marker in Outlook, select a link to join a Teams Meeting, which would then launch a browser window, and connect to the Teams app.
The updated “Join” button on Outlook meeting reminders will ensure that users can join calls directly, with just the click of a button. Microsoft Teams has grown increasingly popular as a tool for the modern workplace, increasingly appearing within various enterprise and educational environments.
Now, the Join button will help Microsoft Teams users to get involved with meetings much faster than ever before. The updated feature comes soon after Microsoft announced the arrival of branded lobbies, for more personalised meeting experiences.
